Title of the paper :
Reclaiming Resilience: An In-depth Exploration of Traumatic Memory and Healing in Taslima Nasrins Shameless
Abstract:
The study delves into the nuanced portrayals of traumatic memory and the healing process within Taslima Nasrins latest work Shameless. Shameless, the explosive sequel to Lajja, carries forward the story of the Dutta family that had faced multiple atrocities in Dhaka. The Duttas came to Kolkata where the author lives in exile. The author introduces herself as a character in the novel and converses with the other characters that she had created in her previous work, Lajja. The protagonist, Suranjan visits the author and brings her up to date with the events in his life. The narrative unfolds the familys exploitation in the hands of people who promise to help them in the process of immigration, and how they have fared after immigrating across the border. Leading poor, unmoored lives, exploited and frustrated at every step of the way, and always carrying with them the memories of a scarred communal history, Suranjan and so many others like him seem to lead incomplete lives in their so-called safe have.
