Title of the paper :
Depiction of Nature in Anita Desais Where shall We Go This Summer
Abstract:
Where Shall We Go This Summer? 1975 is about the prenatal neurosis of a lady. The middle-aged heroine Sita does not want her fifth child to be born into the world of devastation and meaninglessness that she sees around her. To stop the birth of her kid, Sita withdrew to the island of Manori where she had grown up. The middle section of the novel, which is a flashback to her childhood, is separated into three sections. The man Sita eventually marries saves her from the island. The narrative comes to a close when Sita is once more rescued by her husband from the island. Times of India reviewed this novel as Skilful dramatization… the narrative is precariously perched between myth and social reality… for the talent itself, as the novel evidences, is exceptional in its innate sensibility and awareness of the craft of fiction.
