Can The Subaltern Live: An Exploration of Women Predecament Against the Backdrop of a Realistic Novel in Telugu
Abstract:
The present paper attempts to analyses Basivi cult, an evil superstitious practices that exists even today, in some of the parts of Telugu states, through the novel Mudhra. Firstly, the paper focuses the novel as a powerful Dalit narrative, trying to expose the bitter harsh realities of such kind of atrocities that exists among the lower castes. On the same line, Nayars analysis of trauma stands as a frame work in analyzing the novels ending, the conclusion how the way the victimized tried to handle the situation. The tragic yet critical situation that the paper tries to exemplify is the Basivi cult, the nature of the cult, the adverse effects of the cult on the innocent women and more importantly the way the victimized could up hold their lives towards the end.
