Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women
Abstract:
Empowering women is the fundamental right of every woman. Women empowerment allows women to make their own decisions and to determine their own choices. Women empowerment helps women to have power and control over their lives. Women empowerment helps and promotes womens self-dignity and self-worth. Women empowerment enables women to improve their social, political, economic and legal strength and helps them to live their life with a sense of dignity, self-worth and have complete control over their lives both within and outside their home and workplace. Women empowerment also helps in decreasing domestic violence. It also improves womens well-being. Women empowerment is also important for attaining social justice. Women are a basic unit of society. Without women nothing is possible. Womens contribution is everywhere from taking birth and giving birth to a child. Today the world is advancing and progressing but unfortunately, the oppression for women persists. Gender degradation took many forms and was increased by many factors like culture, religion and socio-economic status. Gender discrimination still persists in many societies. But women empowerment gave a glimmer of hope. Empowering women by giving right education, health and security helped in eliminating gender discrimination to a large extent. Women empowerment boots womens self-esteem. Women empowerment work on the five pillars education, security, health, finance and emotion. Women empowerment has become a significant topic of discussion in economics and development. Women empowerment helps women to control and benefit from assets, resources and income. Women empowerment enable women to boost their status through education, training, literacy and awareness creation. Womens empowerment enhances the quality and the quantity of human resources available for development.
