Pathetic Condition of a Transgender in the Novel I am Vidhya-A Transgenders Journey
Abstract:
I Am Vidhya is a novel that expresses the life of a transgender person. In this novel, the protagonist, Saravana, who transforms into a Vidhya, is not an easy one. The journey made him face many struggles. The first thing is Saravana, who was born as the only son in his family, so his parents expect him to do his duties for his family more as a boy. The second thing is when he faces his surroundings because many times his real character is reflected automatically, so society wont accept it. The journey of a transgender person is too tough for her. So, the phase she went through made her tackle many things. She has to overcome the people and their thoughts, as well as the acceptance of Vidhya. Everything made him strong enough to lead a life as a Saravana, it was too hard for him, but after transformation, she learned how to face the struggles. Moreover, the life of a transgender person is the most challenging, as the narrator expresses clearly. The process of changing his sex is like reincarnation. So, this paper analyses the poignant condition and the journey of Vidhya in the novel.
