Abstract: Literature, with its varied forms, has been a source of inspiration to man. It influences society and is influence by the same society, where the writer is only a part of it. He writes to circulate the energy of a particular period to make it universal. It reflects the multifaceted human passion and emotions like love, hatred, envy, revenge, search, disappointment, accomplishment and so on. Many men have been influenced by the writing of the great writers. Paulo Coelho, who was born in Brazil, is one such writer who has brought inspiration to the people across the world through his famous novel, The Alchemist, which has sold more than 43 million copies worldwide. The book has been translated into 56 languages. He is also the recipient of many prestigious international awards. He is a wonderful storyteller and has inspired people to change their lives.
