Concept of Reciprocal Teaching and its Efficacy in Reading
Abstract:
Improving students reading skills and motivating them to read has been a herculean task for most of the EFL facilitators. Moreover, the pandemic has increased the challenge of encouraging students to improve their reading and comprehension skills even more. This paper aims to brief the audience about the concept of Reciprocal Teaching and its effectiveness in creating interest among students to improve their overall reading skills. The paper is of interest to all teachers grappling with the challenges of developing the reading skills of students in EFL classrooms. The paper will succinctly discuss the strategies involved in Reciprocal Teaching and illuminate the problems that students commonly encounter during reading sessions, emphasizing the concerns of educators in addressing these issues. Drawing on research studies and practical examples, the article highlights the relevance and necessity of integrating Reciprocal Teaching in the current educational landscape. The paper will also underscore the necessity of employing Reciprocal Teaching in the current scenario and offer suggestions on how to effectively integrate Reciprocal Teaching to motivate students to read and enhance their English language skills.
