Avid for Love as a Life Changing Factor in Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner
Abstract:
Love is a universal force that bonds every human relation in the world. Family, which is the basic unit of the society, teaches every individual to spread love, peace and communion among other individuals of the society. Khaled Hosseini, an Afghan born American writer gives more importance to familial relationship in his writings. Hosseini, in his first novel The Kite Runner brings out the troubled relationship between between a father and his son. Their troubled relationship causes various turmoil with other characters in the novel. Amir, the protagonist of the novel longs for his father’s love and attention. To win the love of his father he betrays his best friend Hassan, who is very loyal to him. This betrayal causes various tensions between the characters. Years after Amir realize his mistake, this recollection of his past memories made Amir to suffer physically and mentally. Thus he seeks for redemption. Thus how longing for love changes one’s character and his journey in search of redemption and how his character is molded at the end of the novel are discussed in this paper.
