Ecofeminism in Heart of Darkness
Abstract:
Joseph Conrad wrote a novella titled Heart of Darkness, which was released in 1899. Charles Marlow, a sailor travelling to the Congo River in Africa, tells the tale. Marlows assignment is to track down Kurtz, the notorious ivory trader who is said to have lost his mind. Marlow meets a variety of people as he makes his way more into the heart of Africa and observes the horrors and evil inherent in human nature. The novella delves on topics such as exploitation, imperialism, and innate darkness present in every human being. Many people consider Heart of Darkness to be a potent critique of colonialism and the detrimental effects it has on 60th colonizers and colonized people. Conrad uses Colorful and expressive language, Conrad paints a grim picture of the dark realities of human nature, ultimately leaving readers with a sense of unease and questioning the nature of humanity itself.
