Plight of the Subaltern in Amitav Ghosh’s The Circle of Reason and the Hungry Tide: An Eco Critical View
Abstract:
Geopolitics blocs are playing major role in creating or classifying the economic and social worlds of the globe. The playoff of the socio-political parties to get the perpetual place in the geopolitics is affecting the hunter-gatherer lifestyle of the penurious people. First, Second and Third worlds would have utilizing the globalization to maintain the positioning of the economic ladder of the society. The penurious of the human society might have not been members of the global economic and might have not given any contributions to it but these should not exclude them from the categorization of the people of the world and could not appending as victims of the modernization. These geopolitical blocs create grey areas in First, Second and Third world countries which are called „Fourth- World. This Fourth-World‟s literature is getting stronger and wider conventionally. Muddle situation of this fourth world‟s ethnic communities cannot be deciphered only with the view of landscape but it must drag the attention into environment, inhabitant, and language, cultural and social practices which are the facets of this world. Ghosh‟s The Circle of Reason and The Hungry Tide explicitly are dealing with this grey arena of our so called modern and civilized world.
