Title of the paper :
Cultural Dynamics and Ethnic Perspectives in Kalyana Raos Untouchable Spring: A Study on Representation and Appropriation
Abstract:
Untouchable Spring, translated into English from Kalyana Raos original Telugu novel, has ignited discussions on cultural appropriation and the portrayal of Dalit identity in literature. The novel vividly captures the struggles, resilience, and aspirations of the Dalit community against the backdrop of caste-based discrimination in India. Through its characters and narrative, Rao challenges dominant cultural narratives, offering a nuanced critique of social hierarchies and celebrating the transformative power of Dalit art, education, and literature. This research article examines the impact of Untouchable Spring within the broader movement of Dalit writing, highlighting its role in voicing the experiences of the marginalized, challenging stereotypes, and redefining Dalit identity. The novels translation has facilitated cross-cultural dialogue, contributing to a more inclusive literary canon and fostering empathy and understanding among readers worldwide. By situating Untouchable Spring within the context of Dalit literatures evolution, this article underscores the novels significance in promoting social justice, equity, and the dignity of marginalized communities through literature.
