Identity Crisis in Hajins The Crazed
Abstract:
This article focuses on the study of identity crisis in Ha Jins novel The crazed. Ha Jins novel provides as with a platform to rethink modern literature in the global contex. Identity is the fact of being what a person or think is. It is closed to similarity or affinity. It is the state of fact of remaining the same one. Identity crisis is a period of uncertainty and confusion in which a person’s sene of identity become insecure, typically due to a changing their expected aim are rolling society. Chinese American writer HaJins character mainly suffer because of identity crises. Identity crises has been one of the major problem confronting mankind in every society. The protagonist of the novel The Crazed, is a ranting professor, is an example for crisis of male intellectuals in the post modern era, which reflects the repercussion of the previous political movements, particularly The cultural revolution. He want his own identity in his life. This paper expose how Ha Jin and his novel challenge the limits of identity labels like Chinese, American and Chinese American, while portraying the complex identity formation of diasporas.
