Title of the paper :
From Periphery to Center: Exploring Marginalization in Select Novels of Shashi Deshpande
Abstract:
This abstract provides an overview of the exploration of marginalization in the literary works of Shashi Deshpande, a prominent Indian author. The paper investigates the representation of marginalized individuals in Deshpandes fiction, focusing on themes such as gender, class, and societal identity. By employing a multidimensional approach that integrates literary analysis and socio-cultural perspectives, the study investigates Deshpandes nuanced portrayal of marginalization in novels such as The Dark Holds No Terrors, That Long Silence, and Roots and Shadows. Through a comprehensive analysis of these literary works, it seeks to illuminate the ways in which Deshpande delineates the struggles and aspirations of characters existing on the fringes of society. Additionally, the abstract highlights the authors nuanced portrayal of the quest for empowerment and recognition within the context of a traditional and stratified Indian social milieu. Using a blend of literary critique and sociocultural examination, this abstract aims to present a compelling insight into Shashi Deshpandes adept exploration of marginalization and its reverberations in contemporary Indian society.
