Title of the paper :
Integrating Soft Skills in English Language Teaching: Strategies for Effective Communication
Abstract:
This article explores the symbiotic relationship between English language teaching ELT and the development of soft skills. Soft skills, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity, are essential in todays globalised world. However, traditional ELT methods often focus solely on language proficiency, neglecting the holistic development of learners. This article proposes practical strategies for educators to integrate soft skills into their English language curriculum, fostering linguistic competence and interpersonal effectiveness. Through interactive workshops and case studies, participants will gain insights into creating learner-centred activities, promoting learner autonomy, and assessing soft skill development within an ELT framework. Educators can empower learners to thrive in diverse academic and professional contexts by bridging the gap between language acquisition and soft skills cultivation.
