Title of the paper :
American Indians Culture and Nature in Turtle Island
Abstract:
Snyder is an environmentalist poet who uses culture, religion, and mythology to express his gratitude to Nature. His poems argue for the protection of wildlife. The inter-relationship between humans and the natural world is a central ecocritical theme of Gary Snyders poetry. In his poetry, human beings are presented as a part of Nature, and human activities disturb the harmony of Nature. This paper focuses on the association between American Indian culture and Nature in Turtle Island. For this paper, four poems were selected, with culture concerning nature being the central theme of these poems. Primary data is collected from Turtle Island, and secondary data for this research is organized from reviews, journal articles, newspaper articles, interviews, etc. Snyder has beautifully described the activities of Native Indians in favor of nature. The historical and cultural background knowledge behind these poems deepens an understanding of these peoples thoughtfulness and respect toward nature and the environment.
