Title of the paper : Understanding the role on Cultural aspects of Community Organization: A case of Galo Welfare Society (GWS) in Arunachal Pradesh

Abstract: In human society there are various ways to ameliorate the living condition of community life one of the ways is community organization. Community based organization is a method of carrying out social welfare measures and activities basically formed to solve certain socioeconomic and political problems of community as per their capacity. These organizations are formed on the basis of shared interest, location, characteristics ethnicity etc. fundamentally characterize by cooperative spirit and philosophy of coordination, community solidarity, social welfare, voluntary cooperation. They exist as a non-profit organization relying mainly on voluntary contribution. CBO stake up manifold issues being faced by community such as education, health, infrastructure development, skill development programs, women empowerment etc. in context of Arunachal Pradesh a state in North-East India CBOs play a crucial role in the aforementioned issues along with significant role in cultural protection, preservation and promotion. In todays modern and complex era cultural preservation has become a pertinent aspect of community life, without which there could be diminishing of culture gradually. The main objective of this paper is to analyse the role of CBOs in Arunachal Pradesh in cultural preservation with special reference to Galo Welfare Society GWS the apex community body of Galo tribe. For the collection of data both primary and secondary sources were used. For primary data representatives of community-based organizations were interviewed using in-depth personal interview and questionnaire. Further, for secondary sources reports, documents, souvenirs were used.
