Title of the paper :
Positive Parenting: A Parallel Study on Jaishree Misras Ancient Promises and William Glassers Choice Theory
Abstract:
A successful relationship thrives on understanding, trust, and emotional support between individuals. It involves shared experiences, empathy, compromises, adaptability to the needs of each other, and a commitment to face the challenges in life together. In the realm of parenting, nurturing a constructive and promising bond with children is pivotal for their development. It also helps to establish a concrete foundation for a well-rounded life. Misra has written several novels that deal with family relationships and conflicts. The aim of this paper is to analyse the positive filial connection that exists in contemporary society through the novel Ancient Promises by Jaishree Misra. The paper focuses on the strained relationship of the protagonist, Janu, with her parents, marked by their inability to understand her desires and the effects of their controlling behavior. The paper also attempts to encompass Glassers Choice Theory, which underscores the detrimental results of external control psychology on parent-child relationships, highlighting the necessity for open interaction and emotional bonds. The paper concludes that parental support helps children navigate the intricacies of life.
