Title of the paper :
A Discourse on Imperialism and Fatherhood in Africa: An Analytical Study of Chinua Achebes Things Fall Apart and Ngugi Wa Thiong os A Grain of Wheat
Abstract:
Africa , the vast geographical dark continent received the light of civilized white Europeans religion , culture and administration . This substituted the age-old beliefs , customs and livelihood of the African autochthons. The marginalized sections of the African tribal people cordially welcomed this new way of life as it gave them the opportunity to live with honour and dignity. The developmental programmes and equality in respect of opportunity uplifted the white Europeans to the stature of father whose oppression was endured as the punishment to the evil children . The tribal inhabitants became the fearful children to the mighty white parents. Religious and cultural imperialism brought these ignorant aborigines into the right colonized frame . After undergoing the unspeakable torture from the ruthless white-fathers , when the native people rebelled for freedom , a section of society still wanted the European father in the land to retain their advantageous position in administration and society . The paper will deeply analyse the filial relationship between the African people and the European colonist with the African authors Chinua Achebe and Ngugi Wa Thiong os notable novels Things Fall Apart and A Grain of White respectively .
