Title of the paper :
An Analytical Study of Post-Colonialism and Migration in The Light of Kiran Desais The Inheritance of Loss In Diasporic Literature
Abstract:
Post-colonialism is a critical theory and intellectual direction that examines the legacy of colonialism and imperialism focusing on the human experience and cultural impact. It has shaped our understanding of global power dynamics, cultural diversity, and social justice encouraging a more nuanced and inclusive approach to knowledge and understanding. Migration refers to the movement of individuals or groups from one place to another, often involving a change of residence or country. It has significant impact on cultural diversity and identity, global connectivity and development, social services and public policies. Diasporic literature consists of the writings by authors who have experienced displacement, exile or migration from their homeland to another country or culture. Post-colonialism in diasporic literature examines the legacy of colonialism and imperialism in the context of migration and displacement. It explores how colonial histories and power dynamics shape the experiences of diasporic communities, influencing their identity formation, cultural heritage, belonging and citizenship. The research paper focuses on Kiran Desais The Inheritance of Loss within the context of post colonial diasporic literature. The novel not only shows how people who move out of India and migrate to countries like England and America feel rootless and alienated in a strange land but it also reveals how people in their own mother land feel isolated and suffer from loss of identity. It highlights some of the outstanding issues of contemporary society such as globalization, marginalization, economic inequality, exploitation, poverty, insurgency, immigration, hybridity, racial discrimination. The paper gives an insight into their sacrifices and dedication they render as to achieve their minimum wanting for a basic living.
