Title of the paper :
Closeted Experiences and Clandestine Relationships: A Study on Lesbian women through select queer poetry
Abstract:
Women have played a central role in the development of history and theology in every culture. However their morality often gets questioned and reprimanded when they aspire to become autonomous, free and visible sexually, particularly when they try to emerge with their sexual identity. The current article probes into the diversity of lesbian existence which has often been a clandestine subject in India through queer poetries by doing a close textual analysis of Aditi Angiras and Akhil Katyals The World That Belongs To Us An Anthology of Queer Poetry from South Asia 2020. In doing so, it also examines that how far lesbianism has been able to create a niche in the contemporary Indian society. It documents each of the characters journeys from hyper-visibility invisibility to the centre of the conversation. It also draws out the newer perspectives towards lesbian existence.
