Title of the paper :
A Distorted Image in the Light of Diaspora seen in Vikram Seths The Frog and The Nightingale
Abstract:
As soon as one starts reading this poem one could find that it appears like reading Leo Tolstoys short story How much land does a man Need This feeling of reading a short story is because the poet is expressing his life experiences of diaspora by calling the help of frog and the nightingale thereby keeping the tempo steady from the start to the end, this is why the poem begins by saying Once upon a time. We could see the frog dominating in the first stanza of the poem itself whereby the frog represents the domination of the native people. The poet stresses much on the domination by using the line Every night from dusk to dawn, whereby the poet slowly introduces the problematic situations that foreign people face in a diasporic land. The poet puts forth the prevailing situation of other native people face when someone who is less talented than a foreign person they are forced to listen even though the talent of the native people is not up to the talented foreign person.
