Volume IV Special Issue VII September 2024
Name of Author :
Anandhi S, C. Arul Renuga
Title of the paper :
From Displacement to Return: The Palestinian Experience in Mourid Barghoutis I Saw Ramallah
Abstract:
The term Naksa refers to the historical Arab-Israeli war in 1967 and the consequent mass expulsion of Palestinians from their homelands. Mourid Barghouti, displaced from the city of Ramallah in 1967, talks about his life in exile and his return to Palestine in 1993. His memoir serves as a powerful lens to explore the complexities of Palestinian exile and how much this return means to them. The author shares his experiences of setting foot in his native land again after thirty years. He remarks how everything has changed under the Israeli Occupation, making him feel estranged in his own country. This paper focuses on the Palestinian experience of forced displacement, their on-going struggle for justice and their right to return.
