Title of the paper :
Cultural Negotiations of Moses in Bitter Wormwood: A Diasporic Perspective
Abstract:
This study examines the cultural negotiations of Moses, the protagonist in Easterine Kires Bitter Wormwood. Set against the backdrop of Naga struggle for Independence, the progression in Moses life is shaped by the complex blend of traditional Naga practices and external influences which reflects the tensions and negotiations inherent in diasporic cultural hybridity. The concept of cultural hybridity explores the fusion of different cultural elements resulting in new culture. This research also sheds lights on the intersections of traditional heritage and modernity. Further, this study also attempts to highlight how cultural elements evolve, adapt and recontextualize in new context, shaping diasporic identities through Moses journey.
