Abstract:
In literature, an identity crisis refers to a characters struggle with understanding or defining their own identity. This theme often involves questions of self-perception, personal values, and societal roles. People experiencing an identity crisis may face internal conflicts and existential doubts, identity crises are often used to explore deeper themes of human, nature, society, and personal growth. In diasporic literature, an identity crisis often manifests as characters navigate the complexities of maintaining their cultural heritage while adapting to a new environment. These crises are deeply intertwined with themes of displacement, cultural hybridity, and belonging.
