Title of the paper :
Imperialistic Concerns in Mohsin Hamids The Reluctant Fundamentalist
Abstract:
This paper explores the impact of 2001 September 11 attack in global politics, national relationships, and on the lives of immigrants in Muslim diasporic novel Mohsin Hamid’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Hamid has opposed the unrecognized harm after 911 and inevitably reacted to the fallout outlined by the monologue in The Reluctant Fundamentalist. The term imperialism has widely accepted and the incidents of imperialistic events proved an upsurge after September 11 when twin towers of World Trade Centre were attacked. This issue has led the world imperialistic and brought forth the waves of inexplicable repercussions for the Muslims around the globe, as they have undergone physical, verbal, and fictional attacks. Most of the writings after 911 have come up with imperialism as the subject in terms of their experience and reality they have experienced. The main objective of this paper is to explore the imperialistic behaviour of Europeans towards the Muslims through the novel. This study is done through the critical theory of Neo-Orientalism.
