Identity Politics in Kamila Naheed Shamsies Burnt Shadows
Abstract:
Kamila Naheed Shamsie is one of the popular contemporary British- American Pakistani woman novelists. Most of her novels are chivalric and are primarily based on Multiculturalism, Nationalism, Political conflicts and Identity crisis, which are related to the issues of high sensitivity. The paper discusses the process of Identity crisis of the protagonist in the novel Burnt Shadows shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction by Kamila Naheed Shamsie. In this novel several World historical events play a vital role especially in the Identity formation. The external Political conflicts become a root cause for the internal conflict undergone by Hiroko Tanaka is also studied.
