Gender Justice in India in Light of Gender Equality Laws - An Overview
Abstract:
The principle of gender equality is enshrined in the Constitution of India in its preamble, Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles of State Policy. Further, there are various legislations in India which not only aim to remove inequalities but also empower women in the contemporary scenario. The main objective of this paper is to bring home the fact that the initiatives of the legislature and judiciary have left no stone unturned to create a positive environment and thereby strengthen the legal system aimed at elimination of all forms of discrimination against women. The paper portrays on the gap in the implementation part and stresses on the point that it is the need of the hour to focus on the joint accountability of the vital organs of the government to uplift the scenario and stive towards the betterment in all spheres.
