Indian diaspora has become a prominent force in Indian Writing in English. India has largest and the oldest diasporic population in entire world contributing economically, socially, and politically in the development of world community. The yearning for the land of origin, nostalgia, and keenness to remain connected with their culture, tradition and great heritage were some of the most overwhelming sentiments which gave birth to the Diaspora Literature. Some of the eminent writers of Indian Diaspora are Vikram Seth, Salman Rushdie. Amitav Ghosh, Nilanjana Sudeshna, V.S. Naipaul, Anita Desai and Shani Muthoo etc. This paper aims at some of the female writers whose writing had elements such as quest for identity, nostalgia, re-rooting and uprooting. This paper aims at comparative study of the female writers who emigrated from India but tried to keep hold on their Indian culture and tradition through their writings.
